SERVICES OUR ATHLETIC THERAPIST OFFER ON SITE

  • On-Site Rehabilitation – Athletic therapists are experts at injury assessment and rehabilitation. They adhere to the Sports Medicine Model of care using various manual therapies, modalities, exercise prescription and even bracing and taping. The Athletic Therapist will perform individual assessments and determine the root cause of the employee’s discomfort/pain and will develop a plan for treatment and rehabilitation that best suits the employee’s recovery.  All this will be performed on site in the clinic set up at the facility.
  • Work Readiness/Conditioning – Just as certified athletic therapists have been developing conditioning programs for athletes and teams, our athletic therapists are now applying these same principles to develop programs for occupational athletes. These principles include warm-up, overload, consistency, specificity, progress, intensity, individuality and safety.  This functional or work specific training ensures the employee will return to pain free work because of the exercise-based work simulation.
  • Injury Prevention –The Athletic therapist’s focus is injury prevention and patient education. Injury prevention such as, lifting protocols, stretching programs, pre-shift exercise, musculoskeletal injury recognition and intervention and injury prevention presentations.
  • Ergonomic Intervention – The Athletic Therapist will work to identify ergonomic stressors and then can assist in recommending and implementing both engineering and administrative controls. Similar to analyzing the mechanics of an athlete, such as the throwing motion of a pitcher, the knowledge a certified athletic therapist has in biomechanics are valuable skills used to analyze a workstation or worker for potential ergonomic risk factors.
  • Job Analysis – the goal of the job analysis is to provide detailed information that can create an environment that enhances human productivity and human well-being. The primary purpose of the analysis is to identify the root cause of work-related problems that may contribute to musculoskeletal disorders.  The athletic therapist’s education in human factors and biomechanics makes them a valuable professional when identifying potential musculoskeletal disorder risk factors through a job analysis.
  • Wellness – Along with encouraging and developing healthy lifestyles, the certified athletic therapist can manage fitness, stress management and assist in any health initiatives.
